Manx Cup is a 4 round knockout tournament based on 16 entries.
ECF rated.
Random draw 1st round.
First-round exit qualify for the Manx Bowl.
All games to played at the club on the designated night.
For those knocked out rated games can be arranged if required on the Semi-final or Final nights.
Drawn game will result in a shoot out on the night – 5 minute blitz, opposite colours until we have a winner. (Blitz games only commence once all long play games have finished)
Entries Close & 1st Round Draw:
28th November 2023. (before the 5 minute blitz competition)
Time of play:
Round One – Clocks 7.30pm. (05/12/23)
Quarter-finals – Clocks 7.30pm. (12/12/23)
Semi-finals – Clocks 7.30pm. (09/01/24)
Finals – Clocks 7.30pm. (16/01/24)
Rate of play:
All moves in 60 minutes, plus a 10 seconds per move from first move.
Default time:
20 minutes after clocks.
Organisers:
The Chief Organiser is Brian Woodard.
The Controller’s decision in all matters will be final.
Condition of entry / Personal Information:
You must be a member of the English Chess Federation before entry can be accepted.
All results will be submitted to the ECF for grading and it is a condition of entry that players agree to their grading information being published on the IOM Chess Club and ECF websites.
